Navigo Pass
Paris transit card for longer stays
Navigo Pass
The card Navigo is the preferred option for those who constantly use public transport in Paris. For visitors, it is recommended for longer stays due to its more complex purchase and usage process.
Please note: a major drawback of the Navigo is its synchronization. If you want to use, for example, the Navigo semanal (Navigo Weekly Ticket), you should know that it is valid for one week (Monday to Sunday). This means that if you buy it on a Friday, it is only valid from Monday onward.
If you want a physical pass, you will need to provide your first and last name and attach a photo to obtain the card.
It is for personal use only and non-transferable. Each person needs their own card.
Navigo on Your Phone
Visitors with a phone and SIM card compatible with the service can download the Navigo app and add tickets to a Navigo Travel Card or validate tickets directly with their phone.
For this option you will need a credit card to make the payment and an email address to which the purchase confirmation will be sent.
When validating, you can use the Ile-de-France Mobilités app, but for now it is available for Android only.
If this option doesn't work with your travel dates or seems too cumbersome, we recommend using a Paris Visite or a book of 10 Ticket t+ tickets instead, if you are only coming to Paris for a few days or a week.
Where Can I Use the Navigo?
You can use it to reach the Paris airports, Charles de Gaulle (zone 5), Orly (zone 4), the Versailles (zone 4), and the Disneyland Paris Parks (zone 5).
You can ride: public network buses, metro, RER (trains), tram, Noctilien (night buses), Orlybus and Montmartre Funicular.

Difference between Paris Visite and Navigo
The key difference between the Paris Visite and the Navigo Pass is the ability to sync with the days of your visit and the price. The Paris Visite is slightly more expensive, especially if you want to include transfers from the airports (you must buy the zone 1-5 version for €43), but it may be a better option if you are visiting Paris over the weekend, as Navigo Découverte cards purchased on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays will not take effect until the following Monday morning. We explain in more detail:
One major drawback of the Navigo Découverte is its synchronization. The pass validity begins on Monday morning and ends the following Sunday. The weekly rate for the Navigo is only valid from Monday to Sunday. You cannot choose when your 7 days of use begin. Weekly cards can be purchased on any day up to and including Thursday, but if you buy one on a Friday, Saturday, or Sunday, it will not take effect until the following Monday morning. The Paris Visite on the other hand, runs from 1 to 5 days and can be used on whichever day you choose.
