The Moulin Rouge in history
It was immortalized by Toulouse-Lautrec in his work "At the Moulin Rouge, the Dance," painted in 1890.
During World War II and the German occupation the city lost its joie de vivre, but in 1951 Georges France bought the cabaret and renovated it, determined to restore its former glory; in 1955 the cenas-espectáculo del Moulin Rouge with resounding success.
Among the celebrities who have performed at this famous venue are Edith Piaf, Yves Montand, Ginger Rogers, Lisa Minnelli y Frank Sinatra.
The Venue
The Moulin Rouge can seat 850 people, all gathered in a room with a welcoming vintage style reminiscent of guinguette (a typical Parisian suburban cabaret) where hundreds of small red incandescent table lamps resemble a constellation.
