La Madeleine Church in Paris is a Greek-style temple whose imposing Corinthian columns will make you stop for a moment and remind yourself where you are.
It was erected in honor of the Grande Armée of France by order of Napoleon.

A Brief History
Construction of the church began in 1764, but following the death of its architect it was demolished and rebuilt by his successor, whose work was interrupted by the outbreak of the Revolution.
After the fall of the emperor, the church was consecrated to Mary Magdalene.

Its interior, made up of a single nave and three domes, is exquisitely decorated and houses a statue depicting the assumption of the saint, shrouded in shadow. One of the defining characteristics of this temple is its dim lighting.
Its impressive organ is considered one of the finest in Paris.
