Tuileries Garden
The Most Visited Garden in Paris
Tuileries Garden
The Jardines de las Tullerías are Paris's first public park, the oldest and one of the most charming.
Many visitors stroll through it before or after entering the Louvre Museum. Its other neighbor is also very popular, the Place de la Concorde.

History of the Tuileries Garden
In 1564, the Palacio de las Tulleríasbegan to be built, accompanied by a vasto jardín de carácter florentino surrounded by high walls; its name refers to the tile factory (tuilles) that once stood on this site.
During the reign of Luis XIV the garden was redesigned to open it to high society, donde se celebraban fiestas y reuniones in grand style.

With the court's move to Versailles, el palacio y sus jardines cayeron en el abandono. Later, the Palace was destroyed in a fire set by the Paris Commune, but the park, now in the English style, was restored and became el primer jardín público de París.
What to See in the Tuileries Garden
Today the Jardines de las Tullerías offer a haven of peace and nature, perfect for resting or enjoying a stroll along the central avenue, lined with trees, statues, fountains, and ponds.
At the ponds, during school holiday periods, you can rent small boats to sail on the main pond. There is also a children's playground.
There are several terraces to eat or have a drink.

In the Tuileries you will find the Arco de Triunfo de Carrusel, a smaller arch than the Arc de Triomphe (located on the Champs-Élysées) and also construido por órdenes de Napoleón. It is decorated with a bronze quadriga and pink marble columns.
