Balzac Museum
Home of French novelist Honoré de Balzac
Balzac Museum
The Museo Balzac, or Maison de Balzac, is located in a mansion in the Passy area, in the Trocadero neighborhood.
This house is the only Parisian residence of the author that has been preserved to this day.

Who Was Honoré de Balzac
Honore de Balzac was one of the great figures of world literature. He was born in Tours in 1799 and moved to Paris with his family in 1814; initially a law student under his father's influence, he soon abandoned his studies to pursue his passion: writing.
In his early years as a writer he lived in absolute poverty, but in 1829, with the publication of his first work, he began a long and successful career with works such as La Comedia Humana or La prima Bette.
What to See at the Balzac Museum
This museum displays his personal belongings, engravings and paintings, as well as numerous editions and original manuscripts.
This Paris house, just steps from the world's most famous tower, the Eiffel Tower, was where he lived for 7 years hiding from his creditors, and where he kept five rooms on the third floor.
It became a private museum in 1910, and was opened to the public in 1948.
In addition to the objects on display, there is a library of original edition publications, and concerts and workshops are regularly organized.
