Centre Pompidou
One of the most comprehensive collections of modern and contemporary art in the world
Centre Pompidou
The Centro Pompidou en París is a place dedicated to modern art in all its forms: painting, sculpture, film, literature, music, and more.
Also known as Centro Beaubourg, its premises house the Georges Pompidou National Centre of Art and Culture. It opened in 1977 and is located on the Place Georges Pompidou, one of the oldest squares in Paris, whose character contrasts sharply with the museum's modern architecture, featuring air ducts, escalators, and exposed piping on its façade.

The centre, one of the most visited museums in Paris, is an enormous rectangular prism with glass walls and large white chimneys on its exterior that serve as underground ventilation ducts, fully visible from the outside.
The museum's appearance sparked great controversy in its early years and earned it the nickname "Our Lady of the Pipes," thanks to its look of a building with no walls where all the structural elements are left exposed.

What to See at the Pompidou
It is divided into six floors, with various exhibition halls — both permanent and temporary — where works by Jackson Pollock, Picasso, Miró, and Kandinsky can be admired.
It also features a public library and a music research centre, conference rooms, cinemas, shops, and a rooftop restaurant.

The building's plaza is equally noteworthy, hosting special events and always bustling with young people, families with children, tourists, and artists.
The modern artworks at the Centre Pompidou place it on a par with the Tate in London and the MoMA in New York.
