The Jardin Des Plantes or Garden of Plants in Paris , is a historic botanical garden in the capital. It was created in 1635, to house a garden of medicinal herbs for Louis XIII.
Its 2.5 hectares of French gardens, trees and quiet corners are open to locals and visitors. It is a place much loved by Parisians.
Its name in Spanish literally translates as Plant Garden.
What to see in Garden of Plants in Paris
In the Garden of Plants in Paris you can see many species of plants with their explanatory posters. The work carried out in its facilities serves to support and illustrate the dissemination of knowledge about plants, plant ecosystems, the relationships between plants and animals, and plants and men.
Some of the main elements that you will be able to appreciate in the Des Plantes Garden are the rose garden, with 170 varieties of European roses, its three greenhouses: the art deco-style winter garden, the Mexican greenhouse with species from arid environments, and the Australian greenhouse .
There is also an ecological orchard, an alpine garden with more than 2,000 species of mountain plants, a garden belonging to the School of Botany, and a garden called “Plaza de la perspectiva” created between two rows of Indian banana trees, where they bloom every thousands of bulbs a year that make a beautiful spectacle for people and a paradise for butterflies.
National Museum of Natural History
Inside the Jardins Des Plantes in Paris, is the Museum of Natural History. Space dedicated to the study of nature where dinosaur bones, fossils, minerals and more are exposed.

Zoo La Menagerie
Another attraction of the Jardin Des Plantes is the Zoo La Ménagerie, one of the first public zoos in the world .
Home to mammals, birds, turtles, crocodiles, lizards, snakes, amphibians, insects, crustaceans and spiders.
