The Jardin des Halles, renamed the Nelson Mandela Garden , is a green space in the middle of central Paris, perfect for kicking back and relaxing.
It is located in the Les Halles neighborhood, in the middle between the Louvre and the Pompidou Center.
This urban garden was originally designed by architect Louis Arretche, built on the site of a former fruit and vegetable market.
What to see in the Des Halles Garden
It is an ideal place to sit and take a break on your tour of Paris, with views of the Bourse du Commerce and the Church of Saint Eustace.
Next to the garden you can admire the famous sculpture called L’Écoute (Henri de Miller, 1986).
If you are visiting Paris with children, the Des Halles Garden, or Nelson Mandela Garden, has one of the most beautiful play areas in the center of Paris.
There are also sports courts and space to run or skate.
Forum des Halles Shopping Center
If you feel like shopping in Paris, you can enter the Forum des Halles Shopping Center, a huge underground shopping center built under the garden.
